May it please your excellency; We the undersigned electors of the District of St. Barbe resident in Bonne Bay respectfully represent. That the greater number of the inhabitants of the Bay are settled in two villages of Birchy Head and Woody Point, which are about three miles apart; That by the Coastal Steamer coming to anchor at Woody Point, the inhabitants of Birchy Head village do suffer much inconvenience; sometimes not even knowing of the arrival of the said steamer until its departure; That in any provision which may be made, by public wharf or otherwise, for the landing of the said steamer, regard should be had to the comfort and convenience of the Birchy Head part of the community; That with such end in view, we are of opinion that the neighbourhood of Baily's Point should be selected as the landing place for goods from the steamer on account of its being situated midway between the two settlements aforesaid, its being open to the view of almost the whole of the inhabited part of the Bay, and its nearness to the public road - "
